According to Beijing Customs District P. R. China ("Beijing Customs" for short), a special initiative to facilitate cross-border trade has been launched. Among the measures included, a new one known as "airside direct access" is expected to boost the transshipment efficiency of export cargoes by 80 percent and reduce costs for enterprises by 30 percent.

The "Airside Direct Access" is one of the measures for facilitating cross-border trade. It allows imported goods to be dispatched and collected directly at the airside aprons, bypassing international cargo terminals. This greatly reduces intermediate steps and enables faster transshipment of cross-border cargoes. With the corresponding regulatory measures implemented, more enterprises are expected to benefit from accelerated and more efficient export operations.

Beijing Customs reports that from January to April this year, cargoes exported via the Beijing Capital International Airport and the Beijing Daxing International Airport totaled 302,000 tons, indicating a year-on-year increase of 12.3 percent; the number of inbound and outbound flights reached 40,600, up 23.9 percent year-on-year.
