A roughly 900-meter-long skywalk along the core section of Xidan North Street has recently become fully operational. This elevated commercial walkway links several major shopping venues along the street, forming a three-dimensional walking network and accelerating the formation of a new layout for "sky stroll" in the Xidan business district.

The spatial upgrade project of Xidan's skywalk system covers an area stretching from West Chang'an Avenue in the south to Lingjing Hutong in the north, and consists of seven pedestrian overpasses and a skywalk system connecting commercial buildings. Under the project's plan, two existing overpasses are retained and have been renovated and five new overpasses have been built. Five commercial above-ground corridors have also been renovated or built, including those connecting Grand Pacific to Joy City Xidan and Xidan Shopping Center. This project is expected to improve connectivity within the business district, creating a consumer-friendly space that integrates internal and external spaces and spices up commercial activities with scenic charm.

The skywalk is equipped with a range of public facilities, including lifts, canopies that offer shelter from sun and rain, and a smart lighting system, providing a more accessible, comfortable and modern walking experience for people of all ages.

With the skywalk now fully connected, pedestrians can move freely between the second floors of buildings via this elevated walkway. The project has also helped ease pressure on pedestrian crossings along Xidan North Street.

Another highlight of the project is the better use of the spaces beneath the bridges, with public seating and rest areas added, along with a variety of service facilities. The smart lighting system has also been upgraded and can automatically switch lighting modes according to time periods and festivals, creating a more comfortable and atmospheric ambience for nighttime shopping and strolling.
