The 2026 "Grand Canal Night" (大运河之夜) Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (BMC) Night Run event will take place on August 22. The starting and finishing point is set at the Central Green Vita Block. With no rankings and no focus on speed, the event is designed as a relaxed and leisurely running experience for running enthusiasts, families, and groups of friends.

Registration opened at 18:00 on August 13 and will close at midnight on August 17. The registration fee is 88 yuan, and participation is capped at 900 people on a first-come, first-served basis. Those interested can register through the official WeChat account "Tongtong Lai Yundong" (通通来运动).

Unlike traditional road races, this night run is designed as an immersive carnival that combines fitness, fun and food. Each participant will receive a glow-in-the-dark gear kit, including an exclusive T-shirt, a glowing headband, and a fluorescent wristband.

The venue will feature fun sports zones open to participants of all ages, including beginners and families with kids. Those who complete the challenges can win exquisite gifts. A Grand Canal-themed photo area will showcase several large-scale light installations, while professional photographers will be on hand to take photos for participants free of charge. Runners can strike a pose and get stunning, social-media-ready photos to remember the night.

One highlight of the event will be a crossover show blending traditional Chinese melodies with electronic music, accompanied by dazzling light displays. The venue will also feature a food market and live performances, with continuous gift giveaways and lucky draws. After the event, participants can receive a special perks package from local businesses in BMC, featuring discount vouchers for dining, shopping (including sports brands), and more.

On the day of the run, participants can arrive as early as 16:00 to check in, collect their kits, and explore various market stalls. A group warm-up session will begin at 19:30, with the run officially starting at 20:30. After the run, the "Summer Night Carnival" will continue with fun sports challenges, photo opportunities, and multiple rounds of lucky draws. The event is expected to conclude at 22:00.
