On July 1, the first fully paperless departure tax refund transaction in China was successfully completed in Beijing.

As one of China's top cities in terms of departure tax refund transaction volume, Beijing has comprehensively upgraded its tax refund services for inbound consumption, making tax refunds easier than ever—with one code for the entire process, confirmation at your fingertips, and refunds credited within seconds.

With the implementation of fully paperless departure tax refund services, travelers only need to scan the QR code through their mobile browser at any location after entering China and enter their personal identification information just once to generate a personalized, nationally valid departure tax refund service code. This single code can be used at any tax refund store or departure port across the country. Furthermore, travelers can view all the information on their mobile phones at any time, including electronic tax refund forms, electronic invoices, and processing status, thus ensuring a fully transparent and traceable refund process.

In addition, following the upgrades of the fully paperless departure tax refund services, customs officers can now scan travelers' exclusive service QR codes to retrieve their complete electronic tax refund application forms and electronic invoices from the system to complete the customs verification entirely online. This has made the whole verification process more convenient and faster, further reducing the tax refund processing time for overseas visitors.
