The 2024 Beijing Changdian Temple Fair is set to take place from February 10 to 14 along Liulichang East and West Streets.
As
one among the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage
items, this temple fair dates back to the Jiajing period (1522-1566)
of the Ming Dynasty and has been held annually for over 400 years.
The upcoming Beijing Changdian Temple Fair will uphold its historical charm, focusing on art, history and knowledge and providing a serene cultural atmosphere. Located in Liulichang Cultural Market adjacent to the Central Axis, this cultural celebration will include various sub-events, including a book market themed "Old Books Offering New Knowledge", the Chinese New Year pen-making events, and the "Centennial Changdian" history and culture exhibition.
This year's temple fair will not feature food or snack stalls. With limited parking spaces available nearby during the fair, visitors are advised to prioritize public transportation.
