On July 4, the 14th China Children's Theatre Festival kicked off at the China National Theater for Children in Beijing, running until August 17.
The festival brings together 42 plays from 21 domestic theater troupes and four countries, including Italy and Spain, offering 185 offline performances. It has sub-venues in Jiaxing, Changzhou, and Yulin. Among them, four internationally awarded plays such as "Little Red Riding Hood" from Italy and "The Ugly Duckling" from Spain are staged in Beijing for the first time since 2019.
The "Summer Tour 100+" has been launched at the same time. Sixteen works including "Cat God in the Palace Museum" and "Journey to the West" will be performed 122 times in nine provinces and cities, including Beijing, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu. Additionally, the festival introduces activities like art markets and musical workshops to deepen the integration of culture and tourism and promote theatre education.
Since its founding in 2011, the China Children's Theatre Festival has captivated an audience of over 47 million with 563 plays from 35 countries.
