This is a comprehensive university-based museum dedicated to collection, exhibitions, research and education. The museum currently has an exhibition area of more than 5,000 square meters and houses over 100,000 cultural relics (including sets). Its exhibitions consist of three parts: a university history exhibition, permanent thematic exhibitions, and temporary exhibitions.

The permanent thematic exhibitions currently include:

- The Beauty of Letters: An Exhibition of Chinese Family Letters (尺翰之美——中国传统家书展)

- Seasons of Time: Exhibition of Northern China's Cultural Artifacts (北国春秋——北方文物展)

- Passing Down Farming and Reading Traditions: Exhibition of Huizhou's Documents (耕读传家——徽州文书展)

- Distant Memories: Exhibition of Khotan's Documents (遥远的记忆——于阗文书展)
