The Capital Museum is one of Beijing's landmark modern buildings. In 2008, it was selected as a key reception venue for the Olympic Games, and in the same year, it was ranked as both a national first-class museum and a national 4A-level tourist attraction. Drawing on its collections accumulated over the years and on cultural relics unearthed in the Beijing area, the Capital Museum incorporates the latest research findings in Beijing's history, cultural relics, archaeology and related disciplines. It also builds on the successful practices of museums at home and abroad to create a modern exhibition with distinctive Beijing characteristics.
