The museum is an anthropological museum as well as a complex for reconstructing, collecting, displaying and studying the cultures, histories and social life of the 56 ethnic groups in China. It is also recognized as one of China's first national 4A-level tourist attractions.
The display areas for 56 ethnic groups are close to each other in the southern and northern parts of the museum. Featuring full-scale reconstructions of traditional residences and religious sites, as well as iconic landscapes such as waterfalls, terraced fields, and crops from various regions, the museum also includes themed exhibition halls displaying a rich array of artifacts. Together, these elements offer visitors an immersive experience of the diversity and vibrancy of China's ethnic cultures.
