2026 Chinese Debate World Cup Finals Open in Beijing

On July 13, the 2026 Chinese Debate World Cup Finals kicked off at the Shougang Park Esports Center in Shijingshan District. As the world's largest Chinese-language youth debating and cultural exchange platform, the tournament has established 44 regional competition divisions in the Chinese mainland since its inception in 2012, attracting participants from more than 1,000 leading universities in 15 countries and regions worldwide, with over 100,000 participants to date.

This year's tournament brings together 24 top universities worldwide, including renowned institutions such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Harvard University, and the University of Cambridge. Participating teams will compete in 39 matches from July 13 to 19, under a format featuring a group stage followed by knockout rounds, culminating in the ultimate 2026 champion.

The event features five showcase matches: the "Xiaohongshu (RedNote) Creators" showcase match and the "Back in Love" romance-themed showcase match on July 18, followed by the "AI Smart Learning" themed showcase match, the "Football World Cup" themed showcase match, and the "Youth Growth" celebrity debaters' showcase on July 19.

The event spotlights a range of trending topics, featuring debate motions highly relevant to young people, such as "Whether 'the brave experience the world first' is an opportunity or a trap" and "Whether looking inward is an effective form of self-healing for young people". These debates are designed to inspire fresh perspectives and meaningful reflection among the audience.
