In 2025, Beijing's pharmaceutical and healthcare industry generated 1.13 trillion yuan in revenue, securing the city's leading position in this regard nationwide.

To strengthen its industrial policy framework, Beijing has established a municipal-level investment fund for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, worth 20 billion yuan, and a 7-billion-yuan pharmaceutical industry M&A fund. In advancing major projects, 28 projects have broken ground since the beginning of 2025.

In developing a comprehensive industrial ecosystem, Beijing has established two medical device CDMO platforms — one in Haidian District in the north and the other in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area in the south. The city has also built nearly 4 million square meters of standardized industrial space and developed seven high-quality specialized industrial parks, including Zhongguancun Life Science Park, and the medical device industrial parks in Daxing District. In addition, the synthetic biomanufacturing industrial cluster in Changping District has become China's first national-level specialized SME industrial cluster in the biomanufacturing sector. The life and healthcare cluster collaboratively developed across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has achieved an annual output value of nearly 400 billion yuan.
