This summer, Beijing's municipal parks have prepared in advance, rolling out a range of heat-relief measures tailored to each park's conditions. Taking into account visitor flow and site layouts, the parks have introduced a mix of services, including additional shade structures, improved rest areas, reliable supplies of beverages, and regular public announcements. Several parks have also launched specially designed "Cool Tour Routes".

So far, the parks have installed 120 shade canopies and umbrellas at entrances and visitor queuing areas, along with 129 first-aid kit stations stocked with common heatstroke remedies such as Huoxiang Zhengqi liquid and Fengyoujing medicated oil. Anyone who starts to feel the effects of heat while touring can get basic help quickly at a nearby station. The parks have also opened 79 free water stations and air-conditioned rest areas at visitor service centers and around major attractions, while shops inside the parks are also well stocked with bottled water based on visitor demand, with all items sold at regular prices.

The tree-lined paths in the parks stay relatively cool in summer, and many parks have designed their own "Cool Tour Routes." Temple of Heaven Park has mapped out heat-avoiding routes that follow shaded walkways, adding seven fixed benches and eight backless stools beneath the trees so tired visitors have somewhere to sit.

Beihai Park has placed 15 more parasols across five popular shaded spots, including Emperor Qianlong's studio and the Sanqing Tea House, widening the space available for resting and cooling off. Its public-address system also plays a heat advisory every half hour, reminding visitors to drink water, guard against the sun, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

In hot weather, it is best to visit in the early morning or toward evening. As you go around, keep to the shaded paths, step into indoor halls to rest, drink water regularly, and take proper precautions against the sun. If you feel unwell, reach out to a staff member nearby or call the assistance number posted around the parks, and staff will help you right away.
