A wildlife conservation area has been created in the birdwatching zone on the left bank of the Yongding River in Shijingshan District, providing a brilliant wetland and an ideal resting and breeding place for birds. It is one of the few places in this district where waders can be observed.

Laoshan Urban Leisure Park

This birdwatching spot is famous for its high forest coverage. As a critical node of urban-suburbs ecological transition, it serves as a perfect stopover site for migratory birds.

Fahai Temple Forest Park

石景山3.png

With a forest coverage rate above 90 percent, this "forest hideaway" forms a natural ecological barrier. Whether you are a bird-chaser or a traveler interested in ancient culture, you will enjoy a refreshing immersive tour in Fahai Temple Forest Park.

Shougang Park

In recent years, the superb ecological environment of Xiuchi Lake and Qunming Lake has attracted ruddy shelducks to nest and breed. The park has convenient transportation conditions and ample parking slots, offering you a worry-free birdwatching trip.

Yongyin Channel's Forest Trail

The lush vegetation, slightly undulating "micro-terrain" and meandering riverside landscapes create a cradle for amazing biodiversity. When strolling along the trail, you can see a great variety of birds living and breeding harmoniously with the local residents.

Badachu Park

At Badachu Park, a perfect combination of historical heritage and ecological beauty, visitors can observe countless migratory birds during the migration seasons. Yingcui Lake and the valley brooks nearby provide abundant water for birds, as well as a pleasant exploratory path for birdwatchers.

Xishan Greenway

The stable valley ecosystem offers abundant food and shelters for forest birds. A few "untamed" trails are kept here for immersive birdwatching experiences. Driving to the scenic area is recommended.

Beijing International Sculpture Park

石景山8.png

It is an ideal place in Shijingshan District for amateur birdwatchers. Various resident birds of Beijing can be seen from time to time, providing perfect observation samples for beginners.

Nanmachang Reservoir

At this important water source of the Xishan area, a number of birds can be observed. During the migration seasons, in particular, raptors can be monitored close to the mountain ridge. Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, this reservoir is suitable for those birdwatchers who prefer a tranquil and secluded life. However, it requires driving and a short hike.

Yamenkou Urban Forest Park

Adjacent to the Yongding River, it is a new urban forest park renovated from an old residential compound. The park is mostly covered by urban green spaces with sparse tall trees. Less-frequented kinds of birds can be seen such as Mongolian larks and skylarks. During the migration seasons, raptors hovering above the city can be observed from the viewing platforms here.
