Beijing Winter Olympic Park to Open Before October 1st This Year

With the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics approaching, Shijingshan District will integrate eight parks to build a Beijing Winter Olympic Park. The Winter Olympic Park is expected to be completed and open to the public before October 1st this year. In addition, the branch metro line for the Winter Olympics and the maglev demonstration line S1 are expected to be put into use before the end of this year.

Shijingshan District will integrate and upgrade eight parks, including Shougang Park, Lianshihu Park, and Yongding River Recreation Forest Park, to build a Beijing Winter Olympic Park with an area of about 1,142 hectares. Zhuansun Yongqi, Director of the Urban Management Committee of Shijingshan District, said:

"There will be a marathon route of 42.195 kilometers in the park. In the area, there are many historic and culture sites. Many internet-famous sites are located here, such as Shougang Big Air and New Shougang Bridge. The Olympic-themed sculptures collected from all around the world will also be exhibited in the park. The Winter Olympic Park will be completed and open to the public before October 1st this year."

The slogan "Hundred Days Battle"

It is only about 300 days before the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics. In order to serve the Winter Olympics well, Shijingshan District unveiled the slogan "Hundred Days Battle", and the action time was divided into three 100-day periods. In the first 100 days, the task is to ensure that all the projects for the Winter Olympics are basically in place. In the second 100-day period, the goal is to complete all environmental projects and put them into use. The third 100-day period is dedicated to ensuring that all supporting services are in place before the end of this year.

The branch metro line for the Winter Olympics, which is also the west section of Metro Line 11, is about 4.2km long and has 4 stations. Ke Jun, deputy director of the Urban Management Committee of Shijingshan District, said that this metro line is expected to be put into operation by the end of this year:

"Three stations have been capped and some tunnels have been opened. Now track laying and electromechanical construction have started. The line is scheduled to run empty in September, and it will reach the conditions for trial operation by the end of December."

Line S1, a maglev demonstration line serving the Winter Olympics as well as three new urban roads are also under construction. They are expected to be completed by the end of this year. Zhuansun Yongqi, Director of the Urban Management Committee of Shijingshan District, said:

"Line S1 is under construction from Jin'anqiao Station to Pingguoyuan Station. So far, 90% of the total project has been completed."
