290 Days: A New Record!

The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment recently released the 2024 Beijing Ecological Environment Status Bulletin. In 2024, the annual average concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in Beijing's atmospheric environment met the national Grade II air quality standard for the fourth consecutive year. The number of days with good/moderate air quality last year also hit a record high since monitoring began, reaching 290 days, the highest over multiple years. Additionally, the city experienced only two days of heavy pollution, the lowest in years.

Over the past year, people have shared photos of blue skies and colorful clouds, and many photography enthusiasts have even captured the beautiful scenery of star trails... All these images collectively document the achievements of Beijing's ecological environment improvement. Through various forms, people have been sharing the sense of happiness and fulfillment brought by the beautiful ecological environment.

In 2024, Beijing's annual average concentration of PM2.5 reached 30.5 micrograms per cubic meter, marking the fourth consecutive year of meeting the national Grade II air quality standard. Levels of sulfur dioxide (SO₂), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), and inhalable particulate matter (PM10) also remained stable within national standards over multiple years. Compared with 2013, the annual average concentrations of the four major pollutants in 2024 had decreased by more than half, with that of PM2.5 specifically dropping by 65.9 percent.
