In 2024, Beijing recorded 290 days of good or moderate air quality, accounting for 79.2 percent, nearly 80 percent, with an increase of 19 days year-on-year. The number of days with good or moderate air quality in 2024 increased by 114 days, or almost four months, compared with the data in 2013, more than that in any previous year following 2013. Meanwhile, the number of days with heavy air pollution dropped dramatically, from 58 to two days, the least in history, representing a decrease of 96.6 percent.

Furthermore, Beijing's PM2.5 concentration reached satisfactory levels for a total of 345 days in 2024 - or 94.3 percent of the total. It is worth noting that in 2024, the number of consecutive days on which PM2.5 concentration remained within satisfactory levels exceeded six months, compared to only 13 days in 2013. The "Beijing Blue" has now become the new norm.
