On February 20, a bird-watching volunteer photographed a white-tailed sea eagle equipped with a satellite tracker at the Miyun Reservoir. The species is designated as a first-class protected species of China. After reviewing the monitoring data, it has been confirmed that this eagle had been rescued by the Beijing Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in January 2023 and released at the Huairou Reservoir on February 17 of the same year. This marks its first return to Beijing since making a full recovery and rejoining the wild.
