Line 17, a north-south express line running through the eastern part of urban Beijing, stretches nearly 50 kilometers. The southern section (Jiahuihu—Shilihe) opened in 2021, and the northern section [Workers' Stadium — Weilaikexuechengbei (Future Science City North)] opened in 2023, operating as separate segments. Once the middle section is completed, Line 17 will begin its through service, cutting the travel time from Jiahuihu to Weilaikexuechengbei (Future Science City North) to just 66 minutes.

Line 18, which will run through Haidian and Changping districts, was initially part of the capacity expansion project of Line 13. Once operational, it will offer greater convenience for the residents in the Huitian area (Huilongguan and Tiantongyuan) and northern Haidian, facilitating their commutes to places like Zhongguancun Software Park and the Beiqing Road corridor.
