Recently, the revised draft of the environmental impact assessment for the project of the Northeast Ring Line (Nankou - Guanghua Road section) of Beijing Suburban Railway has been made public for comments.
The line starts from Guanghua Lu Station, passing through stations such as Beijing Chaoyang Railway Station, Wangjing, Shahe, and Changping, and ends at the existing Nankou Station on the Beijing-Baotou Railway. The route, spanning about 59 kilometers, runs through Chaoyang District, Haidian District, and Changping District. It will connect key functional areas, including Guomao CBD, Beijing Chaoyang Railway Station's transportation hub, the Wangjing - Jiuxianqiao cluster, the Huilongguan and Tiantongyuan areas, the western zone of the Future Science City, Changping Railway Station, and Nankou New Town.
The Northeast Ring Line of the suburban railway has a total of 16 stations, including 10 new stations and six renovated existing stations. The line will be operational from 6:00 to 23:00 for a total of 17 hours daily. It is designed for suburban trains and cross-line high-speed trains, with some segments accommodating a small number of freight trains. In the future, the line is set to connect with multiple subway lines, including Line 1 and Batong Line, Line 5, Line 8, Line 13, and Phase II of Line 19.
The operational plan for the Northeast Ring Line is structured across three phases: the initial phase by 2031, the near-term phase by 2038, and the long-term phase by 2053, with projected daily passenger trips of 180,000, 259,000, and 299,000, respectively.
