Recently, the renovation and upgrading project of the north square of Beijingxi (Beijing West) Railway Station has been completed. The project has removed obstructive structures and transformed the area into an open, garden-style station precinct.

Four canopies at the station's entrances/exits have been dismantled. Two entrances/exits near both ends of the square have been permanently closed and converted into landscaped flower beds with built-in seating. Passengers heading to the underground parking lots can use the entrances/exits closer to the station building, which are located just over 10 meters apart. In addition, the renovation and maintenance of the escalators are underway at the two entrances/exits in the center of the square, where the canopies have been removed, to further enhance passengers' travel experiences.

Previously, there was a police booth located directly in front of an entrance/exit along the landscaped axis linking the China Millennium Monument and Beijingxi Railway Station. It is now relocated to the eastern side of the square. This helps improve visibility and makes the north square more open and unobstructed.

Meanwhile, the P3 Parking Lot at Beijingnan (Beijing South) Railway Station officially opened on July 1. Unlike conventional parking facilities with a purely functional design, this underground parking lot integrates a great deal of traditional Chinese elements. Inspired by the plum and orchid flowers—two of China’s "Four Noble Plants" (plum flowers, orchid flowers, bamboo, and chrysanthemum flowers)—it brings Eastern aesthetics into every detail of the space through color-coded zones and a visual wayfinding system.

As a vital component supporting traffic management around Beijingnan Railway Station, the renovated P3 Parking Lot fully meets the standards of the existing parking lots (P1, P2 and P4) in terms of smart operation and service efficiency. It has 199 standard parking spaces and 13 well-planned traffic lanes. With clear signage, well-organized functional zones and an intelligent parking guidance system, overall traffic efficiency has increased by 60 percent, and the exit can handle one vehicle every three seconds on average.

The P3 Parking Lot also has a dedicated 600-square-meter waiting area for ride-hailing passengers, equipped with seats, air conditioning, and an intelligent wayfinding system. This has greatly improved the station’s overall service capability.

Beijing Chaoyang Railway Station and its surrounding areas will be built into a high-quality "urban living room" that combines comprehensive transport hub functions with high-quality leisure amenities.

Rendering

The construction of Chaoyang International Garden Harbor has also been put on the agenda. The station area will coordinate multiple transportation modes, including rail transit, buses, non-motorized means, and ride-hailing, while continuing to improve the surrounding road networks. Passenger transfers will become even more convenient and efficient once the entire Subway Line 3 is operational.

With the China Resources MixC TOD project south of the station, which is currently under construction, a commercial complex spanning more than 440,000 square meters is taking shape. In the future, this area will offer not only fancy shopping options, but also office spaces, entertainment programs, and cultural experiences.
