
The 2026 Shunshang Group IWWF World Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate Championships, recognized by the International Olympic Committee as a Category-A event, will begin on August 8 at the Shunyi Olympic Cable Park in Beijing. Ahead of the championships, the inaugural Shunyi 808 Wave Festival has been open to the public since July 25 and will run through August 18, offering visitors a fresh and exciting way to experience the event.
As the world's highest-level official cable wakeboarding competition, the championships will be held in China for the first time. More than 200 professional athletes from over 30 countries and regions will compete for the world title in Shunyi.
Combining the international sporting event with trendy cultural and tourism experiences, the inaugural 808 Wave Festival features a vibrant lineup of activities. Highlights include a panoramic electronic music show on the water, interactive AI robot performances, mecha-themed cosplay runway shows and spectacular flyboarding performances.
Designed for visitors of all ages, the festival also offers a wide range of food, leisure and family-friendly activities throughout its run. The park features a children's play area covering more than 5,000 square meters, equipped with a variety of attractions. A dedicated exhibition area showcases specialty agricultural products from Shunyi, allowing visitors to discover and purchase local favorites in one place. More than 40 food stalls serve popular street food, full meals and exquisite desserts, bringing together regional specialties from across China. Visitors can also enjoy chilled craft beers at the Sunset Beer Garden (落日啤局) while taking in live music and performances.
