Located on the North 3rd Ring Road, the theater is China's first self-raised and self-built museum dedicated to puppetry. It houses a collection of more than 500 various precious items and stages on average over 1,200 performances annually. The theater section, the museum section, and the intangible cultural heritage experience base are all interconnected, forming a complete ecosystem combining "dynamic performances, collection, and legacies".
The theater is now one of the first "Performing Arts New Spaces" in Beijing and also among the first such spaces in Chaoyang District.
