Multiple Beijing Museums Adjust Opening Hours for Summer Vacation

With the arrival of the summer vacation, several museums in Beijing have announced changes to their opening hours, including extended visiting hours, changes to weekly closing days, and the introduction of evening events to enrich visitors' experience.

The Grand Canal Museum of Beijing

From July 1 to August 31, the Beijing Grand Canal Museum (Capital Museum East Branch) will be closed on Tuesdays instead of Mondays (open to the public as usual during statutory public holidays). The museum will be open on August 31 (Monday) and September 1 (Tuesday).

Daily opening hours: 10:00–20:00 (last admission at 19:00)

From September 1, weekly closure on Mondays will be resumed.

Beijing Planetarium

From July 6 to August 30, the Beijing Planetarium will remain open every day, extending its hours until 19:00, with occasional nighttime events and overnight camping programs.

Beijing White Pagoda Temple

From July 5 to August 30, the Beijing White Pagoda Temple will be closed every Tuesday and will extend its opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays. The specific schedule adjustments are as follows:

Closed: July 14, July 21, July 28, August 4, August 11, August 18, August 25

Opening hours will be extended on July 10, July 11, July 17, July 18, July 24, July 25, July 31, August 1, August 7, August 8, August 14, August 15, August 21, August 22, August 28, August 29.

Extended Opening Hours: 9:00–19:00 (last admission at 18:30)

Beijing Archaeological Site Museum

From July 1 to August 31, the Beijing Archaeological Museum (including the Beijing Dabaotai Site Museum and the Water Gate Site in Middle Capital City of Jin Dynasty) will stay open, with no closed days.

Beijing Stone Carving Art Museum

The Beijing Stone Carving Art Museum is implementing a staggered opening schedule and will adjust its closing day from July 6 through August 30. The museum will be closed on Tuesdays instead of Mondays.
Starting August 31, the museum will resume closing on Mondays and will be open as usual from Tuesday through Sunday.

Opening hours: 9:00–17:00 (last admission and ticket sales end at 16:30).

Wanshou Temple Museum

The summer opening hours for the Wanshou Temple Museum (Beijing Art Museum) have been adjusted as follows: From July 6 to August 30, the museum will be closed on Tuesdays instead of Mondays; on Saturdays, selected courtyards will remain open until 19:00, with last admission at 18:00.

China National Film Museum

From July 6 to August 30, the China National Film Museum will implement summer vacation opening schedule adjustments. Its weekly closing day will shift from Monday to Tuesday. During this period, the museum will remain open on Mondays and closed on Tuesdays. Starting August 31 (Monday), the museum will resume its regular schedule of being closed on Mondays.

From July 6 to August 30, the museum will have extended hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The specific schedule is as follows:

Exhibition areas open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 to 17:00 (last admission at 16:30; museum closes at 17:00).

On Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and national statutory holidays, extended hours apply: last admission at 19:00. The Central Rotunda and first-floor exhibition halls remain open until 20:00, while the exhibition areas on the second through fourth floors close at 17:00.

Cinema: Except for extended hours on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and national statutory holidays, the cinema will remain open until the end of the last screening on all other operating days in accordance with the screening schedule. Additionally, during this period, the China National Film Museum's Public Screening Day (at the Reignwood Theatre) will be rescheduled to every Tuesday.
