Short Leisurely Route: Bike rental station (navigate to locations near "South Gate of Yanqi Lake Tourist Area") → National Judges College → Yanqi Lake Dam (great for lake views) → Return the same way to the rental station
This route is flat and simple, with no steep climbs or main roads.
Advanced Scenic Route: Bike rental station → National Judges College → Yanqi Lake Dam → Sunrise Kempinski Hotel → Intersection of Yanqihu Road and Yanqihu West Road →Yanqihu West Road → Baiquanzhuang Bridge → Return bike at P9 parking lot

Lakeside Hiking
Walking by the lake to slowly take in the stunning water and mountain views is another fantastic way to discover the beauty of Yanqi Lake. Try this route and don't forget to pack some snacks to keep your energy up!
Hiking Route: Dream of the Red Chamber Ancient Cultural Park → Guhuai Xiyu Park → North Mountain Boardwalk (north shore of Yanqi Lake) → South Gate of Yanqi Lake Scenic Area → Yanqi Lake Dam → Sunrise Kempinski Hotel

The Xishan Boardwalk and Beishan Boardwalk at Yanqi Lake officially reopened on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

Transportation
By suburban railway: Take Line S5 from Qinghe Station to Huairoubei (Huairou North) Station, then take a taxi or a ride-hailing car to the Sunrise Kempinski Hotel.
By bus: Take No. 916 Express from Dongzhimen Stop to Miaocheng Dong (East) or Huairou Yangjiayuan Stop, then transfer to routes H58 or H64 to Yanqi Lake Stop.
Driving: Navigate to the "Parking Lot of Yanqi Lake" and park at the Sunrise Kempinski Hotel. For weekends, parking spaces are available before 9:00.
Notice
The Yanqi Lake Scenic Area has been temporarily closed to visitors since 11 May 2026. The specific reopening date will be announced at a later date. However, certain key areas such as the Yanqi Lake Dam and the Xishan Boardwalk remain open.
In summer, be sure to wear sun protection and bring insect repellent, as there are many mosquitoes by the lake.
