On March 27, the 2025 Typical Cases on Protecting and Promoting the Diversity of Cultural Expression in the Digital Environment were officially released at the 5th Creativity 2030 International Forum. This call for cases aimed to establish an open platform for sharing global cutting-edge practices and to inject new momentum into the protection of cultural diversity through technology. It is a part of UNESCO's global celebration marking the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.

The call for cases focused on three key fields: technology-empowered development of the cultural sector, cultural heritage protection, and innovation in preservation and utilization of intangible cultural heritage. Nearly 150 submissions were received from 13 countries, including China, Egypt, and Italy. A panel of 12 experts from diverse fields selected 40 representative cases based on criteria such as innovation, sustainability, and replicability. These cases demonstrate strong integration of technologies, covering immersive performances, heritage digitization, and innovative practices in preserving and utilizing intangible cultural heritage.

Among the cases announced at the forum highlighting technological innovation and emerging industry applications, there were a number of Beijing projects, spanning cultural heritage protection, cultural industry development, and industry-university-research collaboration. These include the "Look at The Axis of Heaven and Earth" Digital Cultural Experience Center, Construction of the Ewin Digital Art Center (EDCC), and the "Comprehensive Fashion Design" Innovation Project jointly developed by Alibaba Cloud Design Center and the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology.

These selected cases illustrate how digital technologies are empowering the cultural sector and building innovative bridges between the past and the future. As an international hub for scientific and technological innovation as well as a national cultural center, Beijing has consistently placed great importance on the integrated development of technology and culture. Through a series of practical measures, the city has demonstrated to the world its commitment to protecting and promoting the diversity of cultural expressions. Looking ahead, Beijing will continue to advance coordinated innovation in cultural and technological resources, deepen the integration of cultural industries with digital applications, and strengthen pragmatic international exchanges and cooperation, comprehensively driving deeper, higher-quality integration of artificial intelligence and culture.
