As of 6:00 on June 30, the total number of inbound and outbound trips through Beijing's ports this year had exceeded 10 million, marking a year-on-year increase of 19.6 percent and reaching the 10-million goal 30 days earlier than in 2024. Specifically, over 2.9 million trips were made by foreign nationals, accounting for 29 percent of the total and indicating a 36.5-percent year-on-year rise. On June 29 alone, Beijing's ports saw more than 70,000 exit-entry trips by individuals, the highest single-day volume in June.
A series of policies aimed at facilitating entry for foreign nationals had been yielding results, with the number of foreign tourists on the rise and China remaining a popular choice for foreigners. As of June 30, Beijing's ports recorded a total of 1.49 million trips by foreign passengers. Specifically, over 840,000 were made under visa-free policies including that of the 240-hour visa-free transit, doubling the figure in the same period last year. Nearly half of foreigners' trips to China were for tourism purposes, with the following most popular reasons being conferences, business trips, and visits to family or friends.
