The "Free Layover Tour Service" is Beijing's first free travel program designed for international transit passengers, offering a one-stop Beijing tour experience. It includes free transportation, multilingual guides, attraction tickets, and free Internet access to ensure that inbound passengers can experience the charm of Beijing. The service can be applied for at the Terminal 3 assembly hall of Beijing Capital International Airport. Passengers from nearly 50 countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Singapore, have already experienced it.
Foreign travelers who have successfully registered start their tour at Beijing Capital International Airport to visit either the Great Wall or Beijing Central Axis, two of the city's most visited tourist attractions. Those who take the "Beijing Great Wall Half-Day Tour" route can marvel at the wonders of Chinese architecture through the breathtaking scenery of the Badaling Great Wall, which dates back 2,000 years. Those who opt for the "Beijing Highlights Half-Day Tour" can experience the intangible cultural heritage of Beijing Central Axis and visit the Temple of Heaven, Qianmen Street, and Tian'anmen Square to feel the historical legacy and traditional culture of Beijing. International passengers transiting through Beijing can now take away some wonderful memories of Chinese culture in just half a day.

Beijing, a major destination for inbound tourists, saw a 185 percent growth in inbound visitors in 2024, according to data from Trip.com. The main source countries include Singapore, the Republic of Korea, the United States, Russia, and Thailand. The top five attractions most favored by foreign tourists are Universal Beijing Resort, Badaling Great Wall, Mutianyu Great Wall, Palace Museum, and Summer Palace.
