Do you know where you can apply for the new Five-Star Card (Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card)? Do the old ones need to be returned? Here is a guide on applying for the new version of the Five-Star Cards.

1. Q: Where can I apply for a new Five-Star Card?

A: The new card can be applied for at any of the following 13 exit-entry service centers of the sub-bureaus of Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, in addition to the three municipal-level exit-entry service centers.

2. Q: Will the current card remain usable after the new version of the Five-Star Card is implemented?

A: The existing Five-Star Card will remain valid and usable during its remaining validity period even after the new card is issued and put into use. Cardholders may opt to replace their old cards with the new ones based on their needs.

3. Q: After the new card is issued, does the old one need to be cut or returned?

A: After your application for the new Five-Star Card is approved, the authority handling your application will, when issuing the new Five-Star Card, either cut off a right triangle (2.5cm x 2.5cm) from the bottom right corner (on the side with your portrait photo) of the old card, or collect it upon issuing the new one to you (or your authorized agent).
