Recently, the 9th "Maker in China" Metaverse SME Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Competition was launched at Shougang Park. This event marks the first national competition in the Metaverse track of the "Maker in China".

The competition is structured around two areas, namely underlying technologies and industrial applications, and consists of preliminary and final rounds. In the preliminary round, a panel of experts will review the application materials submitted by participating companies/teams. The final round will feature live presentations and real-time scoring. The award ceremony for the competition will be held concurrently with the Metaverse Innovation Development Forum of the Global Digital Economy Conference this year, offering a prestigious platform for the winning projects to showcase their achievements.

The competition offers generous awards and incentives. Winning projects will be recommended to compete in the "Maker in China" national finals. In addition to cash prizes, winning enterprises will have the opportunities to receive various benefits, such as free support regarding policies, market and funding, expert consultations, and chances for promotion on national-level official platforms. Outstanding projects may also gain recognition as specialized, refined, differential and innovative enterprises, receive support for commercialization of their achievements, and a wide range of other supporting services.

The contestants are divided into two groups, namely the enterprise group and the maker group. The enterprise group is open to SMEs registered within China that have entered the market and possess independent intellectual property rights. The maker group is open to individuals, teams from universities, and research institutes. The application deadline is May 31.
