Digitization has now been accelerating across various sectors. The city now has nearly 1,600 departure tax refund shops for overseas tourists and 24 instant tax refund shops, pioneering the model that allows the processing of tax refund applications at multiple locations across the city.
Services such as culture, tourism, sports, and healthcare are also thriving. Beijing has successfully hosted a series of major international sporting events. The 2025 China Open, for example, achieved a record box office revenue of 88 million yuan, boosting overall consumption to 36 million yuan, a 44 percent year-on-year increase. Internet-based healthcare services are rapidly developing, with 110 internet hospitals and 318 medical institutions offering online medical consultation.
The renovation and upgrading of commercial districts are accelerating. Since 2021, the city has added over 5 million square meters of new commercial spaces and built 24 specialty food streets and 31 "late-night canteen" specialty streets, providing consumers with new landmarks for culinary exploration. By the end of November, a total of 850 15-minute community life circles have been established, achieving full coverage across the city.
