According to the Beijing Municipal Tax Service of the State Taxation Administration, based on the outcomes of previous pilot projects, Beijing has decided to further promote the "Instant Tax Refund" service for overseas visitors. The daily cumulative cap for the amount of tax-refundable products purchased has been raised from CNY 50,000 to CNY 220,000.

The "Instant Tax Refund" service allows overseas visitors to receive an on-site prepaid amount equivalent to their refundable amount after signing an agreement and completing their credit card pre-authorization at a designated shopping venue (known as an "In-store Tax Refund Merchant"). It is reported that Beijing has raised the tax refund limit and diversified the service formats. In addition to the extant "Instant Tax Refund" service offered by shopping venues, centralized service spots will be established across the city, where Refund Application Forms for Overseas Visitors issued by eligible shopping venues can be submitted for advance processing of refund applications.

The first batch of three spots offering centralized "Instant Tax Refund" service in Beijing, namely WF Central, SeasonsPlace, and China World Mall, will begin their operations on June 1.
