On December 16, "Reading to Welcome the New Year" series of cultural activities has just launched in bookstores in Dongcheng District, Beijing. The event will run until January 20, 2026, featuring activities such as themed exhibitions, New Year-themed notebooks, author salons, and book recommendations.
As part of the event, a map themed "Reading Tour of Dongcheng" was released. The map features four meticulously designed themed routes: "Ancient and Modern Cultural Route", "Classics Origins Route", "Hutong Aesthetics Route", and "Literary Ramble Route". These routes connect 20 distinctive bookstores across the district with recommended reading spots, providing a multidimensional guide for an immersive literary combining reading, exploration, and sensory experiences.

The event also launched the themed exhibition "In Dongcheng, the Scent of Books is an Atmosphere", which is open to the public free of charge at the comprehensive reading space titled "There May Be Books". Through themed scrapbooks, curated book lists, and interactive experiences, the exhibition creates immersive, everyday reading experiences.
Also, there will be a "Stroll and Journal: Reading in Dongcheng" creative activity taking place at the same time, covering multiple bookstores including Wangfujing Bookstore, China Bookstore (Dengshikou Branch), and the Sanlian Taofen Bookstore (Art Gallery Branch). Visitors can collect New Year-themed scrapbooks at participating bookstores, and by completing reading tasks and stamp collections, they can collect exclusive stamps and redeem limited-edition cultural and creative items.
