
The 2025 Xicheng District Intangible Cultural Heritage Performing Arts Season recently kicked off and will run until October.
Organized by the Xicheng District Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the event will feature dedicated performance sessions of quyi (a general term for Chinese vocal folk art forms), xiangsheng (cross-talk comedy), folk music concerts, acrobatics, and more. Audiences can check schedules and reserve free tickets via the WeChat account "Wenhua Xicheng".
Since its inception in 2013, the season has become an integral part of public cultural initiatives, offering diverse intangible cultural heritage shows centered on traditional Chinese operas, quyi, acrobatics, traditional martial arts, and music.
Xicheng boasts rich intangible cultural heritage resources, with 224 intangible cultural heritage items under various levels of protection, including 13 traditional martial arts items. The district is also home to over 20 recognized intangible cultural heritage inheritors at various levels.
