On May 18, the signing ceremony of the Framework Agreement between the Alliance for Cultural Heritage in Asia (ACHA) and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality on the Establishment of the ACHA Headquarters in Beijing (hereinafter referred to as “the Agreement”) was held during the main venue event of the 2025 International Museum Day in China.

According to the Agreement, the People's Government of Beijing Municipality will provide facilitation services for the establishment of ACHA's headquarters, including support for its registration and the hosting of international conferences and events; while ACHA will support Beijing's protection and inheritance projects of cultural heritage, its participation in the protection of cultural heritage in Asia, and its involvement in relevant international conferences and thematic exchange activities. In addition, ACHA will also strengthen the two sides' cooperation in terms of international exchange and cooperation projects including those for scientific research, social practice programs, talent cultivation, and cultural exchanges, among others.

ACHA, initiated by 10 countries including China, is the first and only intergovernmental organization dedicated to cultural heritage in Asia. Since its founding in 2023, it has received active response and participation from Asian countries and beyond. Currently, it brings together 20 states, including member states, observer states, and one partner state, covering all regions in Asia with its influence extending to other continents.

The signing of this Agreement marks that ACHA, as an intergovernmental organization, officially established its presence in Beijing. It will serve as an important platform providing key channels for Beijing's international cultural heritage exchanges and cooperation.
