This museum is dedicated to the collection, exhibition, research, conservation and utilization of stone carvings and other related materials. The Diamond Throne Pagoda (金刚宝座塔) housed by the museum, with exquisite religious motifs across its body, is one of the earliest and best-preserved Diamond Throne-style pagodas that exist today.
The museum's displays consist of three major parts: the indoor "Beijing Stone Carving Culture Exhibition" (北京石刻文化展), the "Historical and Cultural Exhibition of the Diamond Throne Pagoda at Zhenjue Temple" (真觉寺金刚宝座历史文化展) inside the pagoda, and an open-air exhibition of stone carvings. Hundreds of fine stone carvings are on display, offering a full overview of the history of the stone carving culture in Beijing.
The museum's stone rubbing team holds a national first-class qualification and has long offered training programs on traditional stone rubbing techniques. They even offer a workshop for the public all year-round, where visitors can participate in hands-on activities such as stone rubbing and the making of ancient stone sculpture molds.
