The Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine is divided into two sections, one centered on the history of medicine in China (中国医学史展厅) and the other centered on the comprehensive development of the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) (中药综合展厅).
The section for the history of medicine in China houses more than 1,000 relevant items, over 200 types of ancient thread-bound medical books, and more than 6,000 volumes of TCM books and periodicals.
The other section, focusing on the comprehensive development of TCM, combines commonly used Chinese medicinal resources, medicinal materials and prepared medicine pieces, with nearly 600 kinds of commonly used Chinese medicinal materials and more than 1,500 specimens on display, all arranged according to their primary functions and indications. In addition, a large number of precious Chinese medicinal material specimens, stuffed animal specimens, and color-preserved botanical specimens are also on display in the hall.
