Yaji Mountain Temple Fair is a traditional cultural event rooted in and guided by the worship of the Daoist deity, Bi Xia Yuan Jun, and is centered around the Daoist sacred site of Yaji Mountain in Liujiadian Town, Pinggu District. It can be traced back to the Ming Dynasty, reaching its peak popularity during the Ming, Qing, and early Republican eras. During the Ming Dynasty, the temple fair commenced on the 18th day of the fourth lunar month and lasted for 5 days. In the early Qing Dynasty, the fair spanned from the first day to the 18th day of the fourth lunar month, boasting a history of over 500 years.
The main deity revered at Yaji Mountain is the Daoist Bi Xia Yuan Jun. The temple fair draws in numerous people from different regions, along with folk organizations who come to take part in the temple fair and engage in pilgrimages. During the temple fair, a wide range of folk cultural performances and traditional blessing ceremonies take place. Currently, there are over 100 folk organizations, represented by the Wan Zhuangzi organization. The Yaji Mountain Temple Fair enjoys substantial influence in the North China region, attracting visitors from areas such as Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, and Liaoning.
