Starting May 19, passengers can bring bicycles aboard G-series EMU trains running between Beijingbei (Beijing North) and Chongli stations on the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway.
Besides bicycles, many other items are allowed on high-speed trains if they meet specific requirements. Read on to learn more.
Outdoor gear: Skateboards, camping tents, and other outdoor items are allowed as long as they stay within luggage size limits and are properly packed.
Pets: The pet transport service is now available at 126 high-speed railway stations and on 265 EMU trains nationwide.
Small cats and dogs should each weigh no more than 15 kilograms, with a shoulder height below 40 centimeters and body length no more than 52 centimeters. Each passenger can bring up to two pets. When buying tickets, opt for high-speed train services marked with the Chinese character "宠", which indicates pet transport is available. To check in a pet, passengers must bring their identity documents and valid animal quarantine certificates.
Small potted plants: The sum of length, width and height shall not exceed 130 centimeters, and the maximum weight is 20 kilograms. Pots must be securely packed to prevent water or soil leakage.
Fishing rods and tripods: When fully folded, they shall fit within standard high-speed train luggage size limits, and may not be unfolded or used in stations or on trains.
Fresh seafood: Seafood must be properly packed in sealed foam boxes or hard shell containers for the entire journey.
Chinese liquor (baijiu): Only unopened original bottled liquor with an alcohol content between 24 percent and 70 percent is allowed, up to a total volume limit of 3,000 ml.
