On January 5, Huguang Guild Hall in Beijing celebrated the first anniversary of its grand reopening under the "Opera Performance in the Guild Hall" initiative. Originally built in 1807, this guild hall, a key historical and cultural site under national-level protection is one of the few extant guild halls with an opera stage in Beijing. Esteemed Peking Opera artists like Mei Lanfang and Tan Xinpei used to give performance there.
Over the past year, Huguang Guild Hall has been magically transformed into a performance center with "Three Stages and Two Courtyards." This ancient theatrical architecture for Peking Opera demonstrates both traditional and modern elements.
Looking ahead, Huguang Guild Hall plans to diversify its operations by incorporating exhibitions, educational experiences, cuisine, and tea ceremony. The goal is to preserve and promote traditional culture, creating a new model for the revitalization of cultural heritage sites and making it a "Key Check-in Spot for Theatre-based Peking Opera".
