If you feel like getting a bite of Jiangxi-style rice noodles in Beijing, the Jiangxi Wa Guan at Chaoyangmen comes most highly recommended. To reassure you, its owner comes from Jiangxi's capital Nanchang. Though the dishes here are average compared with those in Nanchang local restaurants, the fried rice noodles with fresh Xiaomila pepper is indeed worth a try. For this specialty, the Xiaomila pepper promises a stronger spicy kick than dried chili, and the beef, fried to a turn, offers a tenderer mouthful. Moreover, the crockery pot is more noteworthythan the fried rice noodles, and either the "cuttlefish soup with meat pie" or the "cuttlefish soup with spareribs" are good choices. Mind you, the "cuttlefish soup with meat pie" tends to sell out by noon, so you'd better go early.
