The 18th Red Leaf Ecological and Cultural Festival of Badaling National Forest Park kicked off on October 10, 2024. This year, the red leaf viewing period can be divided into two stages. Early October is the first stage when locals and tourists can find the first leaves turning red. The second stage is from the middle to the end of October, during which leaves begin to turn red on a large scale, gradually reaching over 90 percent; this makes this period the best time for viewing red leaves in a year. Wanglongtai and several other observation platforms are recommended for beholding the splendor of the autumn leaves.

It is noteworthy that the Fragrant Hills Red Leaf Festival was launched on October 11 at Fragrant Hills Park. For the first time, the park introduced a "Fall Foliage Map", which covers 18 viewing spots at high, medium, and low altitudes for tourists to choose from. For instance, you can observe the fall foliage without hiking too high at the "Jiariyuan" spot, where yellow ginkgo leaves mingle with red maple leaves; at the "Kanyunqi" spot, you can gaze out from a pavilion for a splendid, panoramic and seasonal view where you can find Xiangshan Temple tucked away among the mountain's vibrant, colorful foliage.

Fragrant Hills Park recommends visiting from Mondays to Thursdays. At weekends, visitors are advised to avoid the peak hours between 9:00 and 15:00. It is predicted that the park will receive large numbers of tourists on October 19, 20, 26 and 27, and November 2 and 3. Tourists who encounter any problems can call the service center at 86-10-62591222 for help.
