By mid-June, lotus flowers were in full bloom in Beijing. Shichahai Park, Beihai Park and Taoranting Park in Xicheng District and Zizhuyuan Park (Purple Bamboo Park) in Haidian District are popular places to enjoy lotus flowers.
Beijing Meteorological Service had previously forecast for lotuses in Shichahai Park to start blooming around June 10 and to have fully flowered around June 22. Beihai Park lotus plants were to start the flowering period around June 18 and to fully bloom around June 25. At Taoranting Park, the flowering period of lotuses started around June 11 and they were forecast to fully flower around June 21.
Experts suggest that the best time to enjoy lotus flowers is in the morning and after the rain. The flowering period of lotuses is generally three days. Lotus flowers tend to bloom in the morning, the petals slowly close in the afternoon, and bloom again the next morning, with the most delicate flowers in the early morning.
Currently, the lotus flowers are in full bloom at Zizhuyuan Park. So come and enjoy the beauty of lotus pond there!
