
On April 12, the 25th Pinggu International Peach Blossom Festival and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Cultural and Tourism Consumption Season kicked off with a dazzling light show.
On the evening of April 12, the two events were launched at Taoyuan Yizhan, a peach blossom-themed cultural space located in Pinggu. The light show, Hanfu show, drone performance, and flash mob performance took turns on the stage. Various activities will be held throughout Pinggu, including those focusing on flower viewing, spring outings, and cultural tourism, as well as a conference on the development of local specialties. The two events will continue until May 31 this year.

Four featured routes for flower viewing
According to Zhang Zi'ang, Director of Pinggu District Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the four featured flower-viewing routes promoted in this year's festival are organized around a couple of themes, namely "water activities", "agricultural tourism", "culture" and "leisure".

In addition to flower-viewing trips and springtime outings, this year's festival also includes 18 activities featuring culture, tourism, agriculture, sports and business. New activities such as cultural performances for rural revitalization and the China·Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Triathlon have been added this year to enhance visitors' engagement and interactivity.

"Taoyuan Yizhan" covers an area of over 10,000 square meters and highlights the "one-stop comprehensive services" encompassing cultural and creative fairs, food fairs, and local specialty fairs.

At "Taoyuan Yizhan", the Hanfu Experience Hall is set on the first floor, where tourists can dress up in Hanfu (traditional clothing of the Han ethnic group) for amazing experiences. They can listen to traditional Chinese music performances in the Peach Blossom Forest, enjoy the beautiful scenery on the "Viewing Platform of Sea of Flowers", shop around on "Pinggu-style Innovation and Art Street" for Pinggu's cultural and creative products and intangible cultural heritage products, and participate in the subscribing for peach trees at the "Peach Tree Subscription Center". More activities with more immersive experiences are offered to the public on the third floor.

At an exhibition hall featuring peach blossoms, tourists can try virtual reality (VR) facilities, watch digital light shows, play digital experiential games, and have fun with other facilities. At "Taoyuan Yizhan", tourists can also take seats on street corners and taste authentic Pinggu delicacies.

Conference on local specialties
Pinggu is a large agricultural district in the suburbs of Beijing. The local specialties are gradually making their ways to markets. A conference on the local specialties of Pinggu will be organized amid this festival, which will focus on local specialty development and include one main forum and seven sub-forums, to create application scenarios for the integrated development of primary, secondary and tertiary industries, as well as the sectors of agriculture, culture, tourism, and sports.

At the opening ceremony, representatives of Pinggu District, Tianjin's Jizhou District, and Hebei's Chengde City signed the 2023 Strategic Cooperation Agreement for Consumption Promotion Through Leisure and Tourism in Eastern Beijing, aiming to promote the integrated development of the cultural and tourism industries in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei and stimulate consumption in Eastern Beijing Leisure Tourism Demonstration Zone.
It is reported that during this year's festival, Pinggu will better ensure quality services for tourists by introducing various measures both online and offline for the first time, with live-streaming sessions, short videos, and an electronic tourist map of Pinggu launched simultaneously. In addition, Pinggu will offer exclusive cultural tourism consumption vouchers during this festival for various categories of businesses, such as AAAA-level scenic spots, rural homestays, and restaurants, so that tourists can enjoy high-quality products and services at more favorable prices.
