As a comprehensive university in the public security industry, People's Public Security University of China (PPSUC) is the first institution of higher education in the national public security system to carry out general higher education and postgraduate education, and the only one to carry out doctoral education. The PPSUC has the most complete disciplines, the largest education scale and the most complete education levels. It is the only public security university in China that has been selected into the "First-class Disciplines" initiative.

As the Belt and Road Initiative being moved forward, the PPSUC accelerates its pace of global engagement, and has become an important window of exchanges between the public security system and the rest of the world. The PPSUC has wide and close collaboration and exchanges with police education and training institutions from more than 60 countries and regions in such fields as talents cultivation, scientific research and experts lectures. Since 2009, the university has held the International Policing Forum on an annual basis. In 2018, the university established International Forum on Police Education Cooperation with 30 policing schools of 22 countries and regions along the Belt and Road, and is the first president unit and the standing secretariat unit of the forum. The PPSUC has carried out the training of foreign students and the training of overseas middle and senior law enforcement officials, and completes the training of around 1,000 overseas talents each year.
