In March 2024, Beijing launched the "Global Service Partner Program" to provide more high-quality, integrated services to enterprises and institutions in the service sector. Novonesis was established in 2024 through the merger of two historic biotech multinationals, namely Novozymes and Chr. Hansen, headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. Novozymes was among the first foreign-funded companies to set up an R&D center in China in the 1990s.

Adhering to its development strategy ("In China, For China"), Novonesis located its China headquarters and R&D center in Beijing's Haidian District. The choice was made to further strengthen local innovation and serve the markets around the globe, including those in China and the rest of the Asia Pacific region.
