On April 20, the Beijing Municipal Forestry and Parks Bureau released the 2025 List of Terrestrial Wildlife Species in Beijing, indicating the fourth revision since 2021. According to the latest data, Beijing now hosts 620 terrestrial wildlife species spanning 108 families of 33 orders, with eight more species spotted compared with 2024. Notably, all newly recorded species are birds, raising the city's total bird species count to 527.

Beijing is one of the world's most biodiverse metropolises. With 527 recorded bird species, a number accounting for more than one-third of China's total, the city ranks second among the capitals of the G20 countries in this regard.
