At 10:00 on April 1, the G79 train from Beijing to Hong Kong left the Beijing West Railway Station for the Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, taking only eight and a half hours. It is the first high-speed train from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to Hong Kong in 2023, marking the resumption of high-speed rail services between the two regions. It will further meet the travel needs of passengers between the two regions and promote people-to-people exchanges as well as economic and trade exchanges.

Every passenger needs to use the ID card registered at the time of ticket purchasing when entering the Beijing West Railway Station, but to show entry-exit documents such as travel permits to Hong Kong and Macau or Home Return Permit for inspection before exiting the Hong Kong West Kowloon Station.
In addition, the G305 high-speed train from Tianjin to Hong Kong departed on the same day. Passengers in the Xiong'an New Area can also take this train to Hong Kong directly, with a total travel time of about ten hours.
