On May 11, the launch ceremony for the Beijing Daxing-Lisbon international air route was held at the Embassy of Portugal in China. At the ceremony, Beijing Capital Airlines officially announced that the new route will open on June 22, with one weekly flight scheduled every Monday. This will be the first direct route from the Beijing Daxing International Airport to Lisbon, Portugal.
At the event, representatives of Beijing Capital Airlines introduced this new route, including the information on flight schedules, distinctive services and supporting travel products. Representatives of Turismo de Portugal (Portugal's tourism authority) also showcased local tourism resources, presenting the unique historical and cultural highlights and charming landscapes of their country.
The new route, together with the extant Hangzhou-Lisbon direct route operated by the same airline, will form a dual-hub network connecting northern and southern China, enabling direct air links to Portugal from both the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region and the Yangtze River Delta. The route will be operated with Airbus A330, a wide-body, twin-aisle aircraft, which will have both Business and Economy class seats.
The direct flight will also offer connections to TAP Air Portugal's network in Lisbon. This will enable passengers to easily reach major global cities, including São Paulo in South America, Praia in Africa, Toronto, New York and Boston in North America, as well as Paris, London, Frankfurt and other key European cities, thereby ensuring efficient global trips.
