What is an Identity Document?

△ A Resident ID Card or Temporary Resident ID Card for residents;

△ A Resident ID Card or Temporary Resident ID Card for military servicemen (including armed policemen). Individuals without a Resident ID Card may use a Military Officer's Certificate, Civilian Cadre's Certificate, Soldier's Certificate, Veteran Cadre's Certificate, Retiree's Certificate or any other valid military identity documents issued by a relevant military department, along with proof of domicile issued by an entity at or above regiment level;

△ A Residence Permit for Hong Kong or Macao. Individuals without a Residence Permit for Hong Kong or Macao may use the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents when entering mainland China or the Travel Permit of the People's Republic of China issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with the Resident ID Card issued in Hong Kong or Macao and a proof of accommodation registration issued by a public security authority;

△ A Residence Permit for Taiwan. Individuals without a Residence Permit for Taiwan may use a Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents issued by a public security authority and valid for the next five years, or a Travel Permit of the People's Republic of China issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a proof of accommodation registration certificate issued by a public security authority;

△Overseas Chinese may use their Passport of the People's Republic of China and a proof of accommodation registration issued by a public security authority;

△ Foreign nationals may use their passport or other travel documents when entering mainland China or a valid visa or certificate of residence or stay with a period of three months at least and a proof of accommodation registration certificate issued by a public security authority; foreign nationals with permanent residence in Mainland China may use their Foreign National Permanent Residence Permit Card;

△Staff members of a foreign embassy or consulate in mainland China or a representative office of an international organization in Mainland China may use a valid identity document issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
