The  public space renovation and upgrading project in Beijing's Guomao  Bridge area is scheduled to commence in the second half of 2025, with an  expected construction time of four months. The project site is located  in Jianwai subdistrict of Chaoyang District, extending from Tonghuihe  North Road in the south to Guanghua Road in the north.

The  Guomao Bridge area will be renovated and upgraded through several  measures. Specifically, under-bridge spaces will be integrated to create  a pedestrian-friendly corridor, while new garden areas will be added to  by using the space that became available after the removal of  right-turn ramps. In addition, locations of major bus bays will be  optimized, and smart traffic projects will be launched. All of these  efforts are aimed to progressively enhance the public space environment  and elevate the international image of the CBD core zone.

Part  of the under-bridge spaces are planned to be repurposed as parking  zones to alleviate parking pressure in the surrounding areas, thereby  reducing the traffic congestion caused by disorderly parking.

The  revamped under-bridge spaces can also house diverse public service  facilities. These will include amenities such as public restrooms and  rest stations for sanitation workers, as well as sports facilities like  small sports zones, with public fitness equipment to be available as  well. These new facilities will provide locals with more urban public  services and enhance the city's overall public service capacity.

Through  such improvement efforts as waste removal and greening, the  under-bridge spaces will be transformed into amazing urban scenic spots.  Flowers and climbing vines can be planted under the bridge to create  distinctive green landscapes. New artistic sculptures and cultural walls  can also be introduced so as to shore up the city's cultural essence  while enhancing the overall scenic quality of Beijing's urban  environment.

In the future, this area  will serve as a new window showcasing Beijing's cosmopolitan profile,  bringing more comfortable and distinctive public space experiences to  locals and visitors and infusing renewed vitality into the high-quality  development of the CBD.
